Global Recycling Day

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), 17% of the food produced worldwide is wasted every year, which accounts for 931 million metric tons. This amount is equivalent to the average annual food consumption of more than 1.38 million people! Food waste not only has a substantial social and economic impact, but also an environmental one, by contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. Wasted food often ends up in landfills and produces methane through the decomposition process.

In light of it being Global Recycling Day 2023 this past weekend, we at NovAzure are delighted to be working with our client The Waste Transformers to revolutionise the way that people deal with food waste. With their on-site and modular technology, The Waste Transformers not only reduce the amount of food waste going into landfills, but also turns the food waste into energy and nutrient-rich fertilisers, creating more sustainable and circular solutions to the food waste problem.
