Rob worked for Shell International’s Exploration & Production division for over 13 years prior to joining the Queensland University of Technology in Australia as an Associate Professor in 2011. His roles at Shell included serving as the Executive Coordinator global R&D, and also as the Learning and Development Manager for the Western hemisphere. Rob is a member of the United Nations Resources and Energy Expert Group, and advises several resource sector technology startups around the world. He has authored dozens of papers and books about innovation and new technologies in the energy and resource sectors, and is frequently invited to deliver keynote speeches and media appearances on these topics. Originally from Canada, Rob has lived in several countries throughout his international career, and now calls Australia home.

Experience

  1. During his Shell career, development and deployment of energy technologies in multi-billion dollar assets throughout Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Africa
  2. Provided specialized technology strategy consulting for energy- and resource-related challenges to global brands such as Intel Corporation, Microsoft, Rio Tinto, Shell, and to large-cap energy companies like the Mexican Petroleum Institute/PEMEX and Malaysia’s Petronas
